Obsessed with… Maroon

Obsessed with... Maroon

Call it what you will – oxblood, wine, maroon, plum, burgundy… this deep red colour has been a fashion winner for a long time. I am currently using it as one of my ‘travel colours’ on my 4 week sojourn in California (where the weather is cool so maroon works nicely).

Paired with black, denim, navy, white, cream, blush, maroon looks rich and warm. Can’t quite pull of a deep lippie though, end up blotting it in like a stain on my lips (which despite being referred to as ‘stain’ seemingly is gone with 2 hours!)

Obsessed with…Navy

Obsessed with...Navy
I had 90 minutes to spare this afternoon and decided to partake in a little retail therapy, which funnily enough is the only therapy I receive! I had been on the hunt for navy leggings ever since my one and only pair got  a large hole in them two weeks ago. Seeing as patterned leggings are all the rage at the moment,  none of my regular stores were stocking coloured leggings, maybe black but no navy!
So with my spare time today at a different set of shops I returned to my navy leggings mission. I found a $20 pair of ‘jeggings’ in navy, a bit stiffer than regular leggings and a bit too low-waisted, but bought them in case that was all I found.
I then thankfully went into Temt to see navy clothing everywhere, including stretchy, seamless leggings. Score!  I took about 12 other things into the change room, (because they were all cute, and I had spare time) and ended up buying 4 other things. I realised when I got to the checkout, all Navy!
Here’s what I got:
A gorgeous faux leather, fully lined jacket with a detachable hood, in the most gorgeous light  navy (is that even a colour? You know, lighter than navy but not as bright as cobalt). $60.00, sold!
The cutest navy cardigan with white love hearts, some hearts in solid white and some just white outline. Couldn’t resist.
A navy sleeveless dress with black polka dots, perfect with either black or navy leggings!
A loose fitting, almost bat-winged style long top that could also be a short dress, with a navy and cream pattern.
I realised writing this post that I had already bought some navy goodies in the last 6 weeks, including a navy Peter Morrissey for Big W cotton dress and some very comfy navy flats from Target. Well at least everything will match!

Obsessed with… Daisies

Isn’t it awful when you take something into the change room that you have just fallen in love with and it turns out terribly hideous? If you are size 12 and under and your brain is saying right now: ‘no not me, everything I put on looks amazing!’ then I would get out of here right away before I throw a chicken wing at you. Or a whole chicken depending on my mood.

I found this gorgeous mini skirt from Kmart (I know, I know) that was mainly black with a white and yellow daisy pattern on it with a thick elastic waistband. Ooh stretchy I thought! I like stretchy…. wait this isn’t too stretchy, this can’t be the biggest size… that won’t even go over my hips…riiipp.

Uh oh. I did get it it up on my waist, but I had ripped the side in the process. Dam you stretchy waist band illusion. Quick, return skirt to rack and go look busy in the stationery aisle. I must have disturbed some bad shopping karma.

Luckily I found a super cute long style daisy cardigan @ Valley Girl  to satisfy my daisy needs (which I didn’t even know I had until I ripped that Kmart skirt in the change room).

How cute is that clock and those plimsolls! (Well they are from New Look so I need to use the proper English term… plimsolls, love it.)

Obsessed with… Love Hearts

Obsessed with... Love Hearts
Can you ever have too many love hearts?
Probably not. Especially in black and white, red and pink. Baking isn’t the most practical in my heart shaped measuring cups, but boy it is fun.
Love those shoes!
Have been wearing my new red love heart dress (pictured bottom right) non stop since grabbing it from New Look in Singapore.
So want to make loveshaped omlettes in those fry pans now. Cutest date night dinner ever!

Obsessed with… Winter Florals

Obsessed with... Winter Florals
I bought the black sheer floral top the other day from Rivers. I can’t wait to wear it with skinnies and boots. Oh I bought boots too. Woops.
Here I was saving my florals for spring! Dummy – florals will look great with thick tights, boots, booties, scarves and jackets. Blossom all winter, that’s my new motto.
