Colour Fest Day 7 – Nectarine

Pantone NectarineIf you’d said that 5 years ago that I would end up wearing more orange in my outfit than a road worker I would have laughed out loud and thought you were a bit not right in the head.
But here I am, orange dresses, high heels, jewels, tops, flats, cheek and lip stains.
Loving it. Probably not right in the head, but loving it.

Colour Fest Day 1: Acai

Day 1 – Acai

I chose a relatively safe combo to kick start Colour Fest. I already have a lot of purple, especially like Acai (Pantone 19-3628).

Pantone Inspired - Acai

Today purple leggings, a paisley dress with a mix burgundy, purple and orange, a purple sweater, tan boots I had made in Vietnam and bronze coloured accessories. Too easy!

Colour Fest

It seems like it is always this time of year when I need a challenge of the wardrobe variety. Somewhere between the end of winter and the beginning of spring, where I need something else besides my muddled brain to help choose what I wear each day. In 2011 it was Shoesapalooza. Last year the 30 Days of Accessories Challenge.

This year, it’s Colour Fest!

I’ve always loved wearing colour, and my wardrobe has many different tones and hues. I’m pretty lucky that I look good in nearly all colours – brights, pastels, jewel tones… everything except bone/camel neutrals, which tend to wash me out.

This year it’s less of the rules and restrictions, and more of a challenge to create outfits based on a colour family. I won’t be limiting myself to ticking off a colour each day, who knows – I may just love a colour combo so much I wear it for a week!

So the general idea is that I’m going to pick a colour from the Pantone Spring or Fall Collection for 2013, and base my outfit around it.

Here are the selected colours for Spring.

Already I see that some of those colours will be a challenge as I have little of them in my wardrobe!  I can use clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery to base around those colours, it’s less of wearing one colour head to toe and more of making that colour the standout of the outfit.

I do know a lady who wears shades of purple to work every day. Whole outfit. Head to toe. Purple every day. She reminds me of a big juicy plum or grape. Cool? Weird? Still undecided.

Wish me luck!

Across the Tasman

I’m off to Wellington, New Zealand for a few days. How exciting, to use my passport again!  It’s more glamorous than it sounds, just going to spend some time with some of my family.

The weather forecast says a maximum of 14 degrees, with winds and rain also on the forecast. Real Winter Weather! Calls for some warm clothes, a big scarf and boots.

My packing travel colour scheme was blue and purple, with neutral items in black and denim. I am planning on doing some shopping when I get there so I went with a bigger than needed suitcase so I have plenty of room for any purchases!

Packing haul looks like this:

IMG_4927Black jeans from Crossroads, dark denim jeans from Katies and patterned purple stretchy jeggings from Rivers, with a pair of black leggings.

IMG_4928Purple sweater and purple parka from Cocolatte, Blue Jumper from Valley Girl and Black sparkly jumper from K Mart.

The necessary black singlets, with a blue one thrown in for layering, purple top from Revival, black top with mini stars from K Mart, black long sleeved top from SES Fashion and Aztec print sleeveless blouse from Cotton On.

My trust colourful scarf that feels like its about 7 metres long, perfect for wrapping around my neck several times and a denim dress/pinafore from Cotton On. Blue vest from Crossroads, homemade beanie  (thanks mum!), Paisley dress from Living Doll, purple tights from Ambra and my grandmothers antique leather gloves. IMG_4935

All my shoes are from K Mart (sad I know!) But the flats were $8!  I bought 2 pairs. Plus my birthday purchased Basque blue hand bag.

Sometimes I take too much jewellery and never bother wearing it. Other times I take too little and get bored with only one pair of earrings. But I justify that as I have so much jewellery, I better take lots and get the most out of it!

Packing all done! Bon Voyage!

Obsessed with… Orange and Navy

Obsessed with... Orange and Navy Yes I’m STILL obsessed with these colours. Here is an almost version of what I wore today to work. I’ve moved from cobalt blue here to navy, which I think goes nicely with the orange.
I love wearing colour, and people often comment on that, ‘I love all your colours today’ etc. Sometimes I don’t feel I can pull it off though!

Today’s Outfit

The blazer and shoes make me feel corporate, well as close as I’ll ever get seeing as I don’t work in a corporate field. Corporate was a weird choice for a Saturday too.

But the purple jeans and pink singlet make this outfit a whole lot less serious, like I’m sucking on a lollipop (while in a board meeting.. that’s my kind of meeting!)

Where: The Artist’s for dinner

The Final Hurdle… Days 25-30

Well out here in Beavercity the Accessories Olympics are drawing to a close. 30 days of wearing different accessories has covered all medals: gold, silver, bronze – in the style of my jewellery of course!

I did cheat a couple of times (Yes the IOC are onto me) and wore the same shoes twice, but trying to do a shoe related challenge when you have an ankle injury and cannot wear most of your favourite heels requires a little bending of the rules.

I think I will keep going past the 30 day mark with wearing different accessories, but will relax on the shoe wearing. I’m sure I still have over 140 pairs of earrings that didn’t get worn!

But to finish off,  here are some pictures of what has been worn in the last 5 days.

And I’m off to the shops!
