Colour Fest

It seems like it is always this time of year when I need a challenge of the wardrobe variety. Somewhere between the end of winter and the beginning of spring, where I need something else besides my muddled brain to help choose what I wear each day. In 2011 it was Shoesapalooza. Last year the 30 Days of Accessories Challenge.

This year, it’s Colour Fest!

I’ve always loved wearing colour, and my wardrobe has many different tones and hues. I’m pretty lucky that I look good in nearly all colours – brights, pastels, jewel tones… everything except bone/camel neutrals, which tend to wash me out.

This year it’s less of the rules and restrictions, and more of a challenge to create outfits based on a colour family. I won’t be limiting myself to ticking off a colour each day, who knows – I may just love a colour combo so much I wear it for a week!

So the general idea is that I’m going to pick a colour from the Pantone Spring or Fall Collection for 2013, and base my outfit around it.

Here are the selected colours for Spring.

Already I see that some of those colours will be a challenge as I have little of them in my wardrobe!  I can use clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery to base around those colours, it’s less of wearing one colour head to toe and more of making that colour the standout of the outfit.

I do know a lady who wears shades of purple to work every day. Whole outfit. Head to toe. Purple every day. She reminds me of a big juicy plum or grape. Cool? Weird? Still undecided.

Wish me luck!

More Accessories – Beyond the 30

So my 30 Days of Accessories Challenge is over, but I am still challenging myself to wear different jewellery, scarves and shoes. Here are some of the items I have worn over the last few days:

And since technically the shopping ban ended at day 30,  here are some recent purchases!

Wanted: Navy or blue shoes – to go with those outfits that have no black so black shoes are out.

Found: $12 (yes twelve dollars!) cute flats at K Mart

Along with never-knew-I-needed-them-but-know-I-can’t-live-without-them $8 pink snake skin flats and Missoni inspired print flats for $19.

Wanted: Ogling these purple triangular earrings at Lovisa for weeks. Can’t justify spendage (plus I was on a ban!)

Found: On Sale!  Two items for $10!

And of course I bought more, it was 2 for 10 after all!

Wanted: Subtle, orange accessories to go with my rockin’ orange heels

Found: Awesome bangle stack – also part of the 2 for 10 deal!

Ahh shops… it’s good to be back 🙂

The Final Hurdle… Days 25-30

Well out here in Beavercity the Accessories Olympics are drawing to a close. 30 days of wearing different accessories has covered all medals: gold, silver, bronze – in the style of my jewellery of course!

I did cheat a couple of times (Yes the IOC are onto me) and wore the same shoes twice, but trying to do a shoe related challenge when you have an ankle injury and cannot wear most of your favourite heels requires a little bending of the rules.

I think I will keep going past the 30 day mark with wearing different accessories, but will relax on the shoe wearing. I’m sure I still have over 140 pairs of earrings that didn’t get worn!

But to finish off,  here are some pictures of what has been worn in the last 5 days.

And I’m off to the shops!

Flailing. And Failing!

I need to apologise. Another week past, and no outfit polyvore designs or accessories updates. Losing my head a bit and therefore my ability to accessorise suffers.

Evidence of Poor Accessory-itis

1) I wore the nude flats again. Rule breaker!

2) I picked a ring to wear to match my nails. Half way to work decided it didn’t match well enough so left it in the car.

3) Wore sneakers for 2 days… with NO ACCESSORIES. I know, I can’t bring myself to look at myself either.

4) BROKE my everyday watch. And it was the only thing I wore on the aforementioned no accessories days. Clearly my punishment.

5) Bought leggings, a top and underwear in protest for not being able to buy shoes and accessories. Fail I know.

Promise to lift my A Game!  (As in Accessories Game of course!)

Some things I did wear this week are…

30 Days of Accessories Challenge Days 16-19

Well the last 4 days have been a very busy blur, both work wise and social wise (think girls dinner, brunch, birthday lunch and hens night) and I will just do a quick recap of the accessories from the last 4 days.

Included are my recently purchase orange suede heels (suprisingly comfy), my deer animal ring (a bit big) my rockstar studded bracelet watch and always useful nude ballet flats (good to have in handbag when heels are too much!)
