After my recent trip to Yosemite Valley where we got to explore the frozen creeks and snow around the bases of the giant trees, I’m catching myself thinking wistfully of snow. I’ve not experienced much snow in my life and I’ve never actually experienced snow falling on me. In London the closest I got was some sleety hail/snow, but it had evaporated into rain as soon as it hit the ground.
So snow flakes almost seem like a fantasy creation. I recently bought these large Steve Madden earrings to help curb my enthusiasm for intricate, delicate snowflakes that one day hopefully I’ll experience in the flesh.
Call it what you will – oxblood, wine, maroon, plum, burgundy… this deep red colour has been a fashion winner for a long time. I am currently using it as one of my ‘travel colours’ on my 4 week sojourn in California (where the weather is cool so maroon works nicely).
Paired with black, denim, navy, white, cream, blush, maroon looks rich and warm. Can’t quite pull of a deep lippie though, end up blotting it in like a stain on my lips (which despite being referred to as ‘stain’ seemingly is gone with 2 hours!)
